What is the course about?
- Explore the world of visual communication and start building your creative identity through hands-on design tools and techniques.
- This course introduces you to the fundamentals of graphic design and guides you through every step of the creative process – from mastering design principles to crafting your own brand identity and portfolio. You’ll learn how to work with Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, and Figma, understand color theory and typography, and develop real-world design assets like logos, mockups, and landing pages. The course blends theory with workshops, helping you gain the confidence and technical skills needed to communicate visually, work with clients, or kickstart your career in graphic design.

What is included?
Week 1: Introduction to Graphic Design & Creative Foundations
Get familiar with the course structure and key outcomes. Explore the history and evolution of graphic design, from timeless classics to modern trends. Understand the various design fields like branding, UI, motion, and illustration. Learn about essential tools, the difference between vector and raster graphics, and start creating using Illustrator with the 5 basic design elements: line, shape, texture, color, and typography.
Week 2: Color, Typography & Layout Fundamentals
Dive into the world of color theory—color wheel, harmony, and emotional impact. Discover online tools for building brand palettes. Learn how to use color effectively in Illustrator. Get introduced to typography and layout principles and apply them by creating a simple leaflet using Illustrator.
Week 3: Branding & Identity – From Concept to Logo
Learn the fundamentals of branding and what sets brand identity apart. Begin building a visual identity: conduct research, create briefs and moodboards, and move into sketching logos, selecting typography, and designing your first logo. Apply your ideas in Illustrator throughout the workshops.
Week 4: Brand Guidelines & Visual Assets
Finalize your brand identity with colors, mockups, and brand manuals. Learn to compile everything into a coherent brand guide. Begin working in Photoshop—understand layers, masks, and image blending to create textures. Workshops will focus on building real-world brand materials.
Week 5: Visual Composition & Mockup Creation
Advance your Photoshop skills with photo retouching and collage creation. Learn the basics of Canva, including templates, design elements, and app integrations. Use these tools to build high-quality brand mockups to complement your visual identity.
Week 6: Digital Design & Portfolio Presentation
Get hands-on with Figma—explore plugins, assets, and create a simple landing page. Wrap up the course by learning how to build a professional portfolio, showcase your work, and present your final projects for feedback and evaluation.

- A personal visual toolkit – practicing the 5 core design elements (line, shape, texture, color, typography) in Illustrator.

- A complete visual identity – including logo sketches, final logo design, chosen fonts, and moodboard.
- A brand guideline – with color codes, logo usage rules, and key visual assets packaged into a brand manual.
- Photoshop-based visuals – such as textured backgrounds, photo collages, and image compositions.
- Canva mockups – branded templates and visuals to showcase your identity in real-world formats.
- A simple landing page – created in Figma, including layout, UI elements, and interactive structure.
- A professional design portfolio – with selected works and a final project prepared for presentation.
